About the AIDS Action Committee (AAC), www.aac.org, www.aacevents.org

AIDS Action Committee's mission is threefold: (1) To provide support services to people living with AIDS and HIV, as well as the people who love and care for them; (2) To educate the general public, health care professionals, and individuals whose behavior could put them at high risk for HIV infection; and (3) To advocate at the local, state, and federal levels for fair and effective AIDS public policy and funding.

HIV/AIDS and Athletics Panel

Are you an athlete that has HIV or AIDS? Are you an athlete that is concerned with competing with athletes that have HIV or AIDS? Are you a coach with HIV/AIDS or for athletes with HIV/AIDS? This panel is for you and will focus on your issues. More details are forthcoming.

Speakers:

  • Brad Peebles (moderator), Publisher of POZ magazine & President of Smart + Strong
  • Shamey Cramer, water polo player
  • Stephen Kovacev, run numerous Boston Marathons as a PWA, and was featured in the cross-Pacific TransPac Race from Los Angeles to Honalulu with a sailing crew of people with AIDS. The documentary is called "The Human Race."
  • Dr. Michael Wong, MD, Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Infectious Diseases at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (Harvard Medical School)
  • Charlie Smigelski, FCHC
